When
you tour Argentina through the Middle-West, when you penetrate the zone
between 32 and 38 degrees paralels, you can find the land corresponding
to Mendoza province. Towards the west,an extense mountain range surrouns
the area, it is called “Los Andes Range ” .From there,icy
clear streams, have been transformed into channels by the man,and they
irrigate the crops.
Mendoza is over all fruitgrowing province with a semi- aridcontinental
climate,out standing because of the low pluviometriclevel of the stival
regime,high heliophany,high termic amplitude
and excellent mountain water.
In the national level it is the first plums and olives productor for
industry.The East Zone of the province,it embraces the Districts of
San Martín,Rivadavia,Junín,Santa Rosa and La Paz,it contains
nearly the 50%of theplums production for the industry.In this zoneexist
90.000ha of crops under irrigation: 70.000ha with vineyards,18.100ha
with fruit trees,and the rest with pastures and vegetables.
The templated climate and the sun permitea great degree of ripeness
in all the fruitvarieties.
At the end of 19th Century, Mendozastored a plurality of settlers from
different partsof the world.Many Spanish,Italian,French, German,English
men among others,contributed to the great genetic diversity of the nowaday
people.
